Cultura e sviluppo locale: il distretto culturale evoluto

Nowadays, in Europe there is an intense debate about cultural policies and the relationship between culture and local development. In contrast to the Italian context, where the debate is often weakened by incomplete perspectives, in this discussion culture is increasingly becoming a fundamental component of value production, including productive processes and without considering the prospective of leisure time.

As a consequence, the link between culture and innovation is fundamental in the study of those local development processes, enabling the determination of the value of culture itself.

In the post-industrial context, cultural policies become innovation policies and contribute to the local development strategies based on the system-wide cultural district model, which represents the new evolution of the industrial district. On this premise, it is not important to invest a lot, but in a selective way, considering the local strengths and the responsible use of resources.
