Impresa come sistema intelligente: alla ricerca di nuovi modelli di governance e di valore

The paper proposes an interpretation of the profound change affecting capitalism, explaining the transition from a modernity based on the exploitation of repeatable knowledge to a new modernity, founded on the use of network intelligence. Several aspects are central in the view which is being proposed: the rise and fall of the Fordist paradigm, with the emergence of a value creation process which is based on ideas, services, networks, and communities; a new emphasis on the centrality of people and their subjective characteristics, which consent to make sense of complexity, thus enabling firm survival; the importance of the access to tangible and intangible resources, and the intelligence which is distributed and available in networks; dematerialization of knowledge and globalization of its uses; finally, the weakening of ownership as a principle and institution.
