Learning and innovation by networking within the Italian industrial districts: the development of an explorative analytical model
This paper aims to present an overview and discuss the mechanisms of learning and knowledge creation, diffusion and assimilation in Italian industrial districts. In particular the role of knowledge, tacit and codified, is discussed to find out the permanent influence of the mechanisms which generate tacit knowledge. The article suggests that localised learning is of growing importance and that there exist open-ended processes of conversation between tacit and codified knowledge.
